The #6 Indianola boys basketball team had a slow start against the Tigers, trailing 16-15 after the first quarter, but then clamped down defensively only allowing 15 points in the second and third quarters combined as they led 32-22 at half, then blew open the game in the third to lead 53-30 after the third before closing out the contest and emptying the bench. Head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports Grinnell did a good job of slowing down the game and playing good post defense, but his guys adjusted and began to take control.
Dakota Heimbaugh led the Indians in scoring with 17 points off the bench, while Casey Glascock had 12 and Brady Blake 11.

The #7 Indians girls couldn’t pull away from the Tigers in a back and forth matchup, with neither team holding more than a lead of four throughout nearly the entire contest. The Indians led after the first 16-15, then 25-23 at halftime. Grinnell came charging back in the third however to lead 41-38 going into the final eight minutes, but it seemed as though the Indians would pull away as they built a five point lead on the back of multiple three-pointers, but the Tigers took advantage of trips to the free throw line and Indianola turnovers to win the game, as the Indians made a two-point bucket as time expired when they trailed by three.

The boys are now 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while the girls are 5-3 and 3-1. Both teams play at Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday.
