The Knoxville City Council heard from Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman about the Department’s recommended budget for fiscal year 2024. The budget is asking for a 17.83 percent increase from the past budget. The budget is asking to add three part-time positions, one for each shift.

Overall operations have increased due to vehicle operations and operating supplies cost increases. 

During his presentation to the city council Monday Wyman reported that it is likely the department’s annual calls will reach 3,300 in five years. Meanwhile, he believes the current staffing level is where the department needed to be four years ago.
