knoxville-school-board-2022

The Knoxville School Board met last night.

The board approved an agreement with Pleasantville for mock trial and an inter-contract with Des Moines Public School.

A discussion on baseball field improvements was held and the board considered an overnight trip request for the four students in the chorus to go to Wartburg College among other matters. The overnight trip was approved.

A majority of the meeting centered around the baseball field looking into new bleachers. Panther Head Baseball Coach Turner DeVore said the bleachers are expected to cost around $150,000 and with concrete work, the overall project is expected to be closer to $200,000. The baseball coach and some baseball parents are looking at raising the funds themselves.

Adam Norris, a baseball parent, noted the plans are to look at raising the funds mainly with signage sponsorships on signs. The bleachers wouldn’t be done until after the season is over.

It was noted that new fencing will be going up on the field and there was a discussion of a new press box.

A special board meeting has been set for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on an expulsion.
