The unemployment rate remained the same locally in December, according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development.

In Marion County, the percentage is at 2.2%, the same as it was the month prior and a decrease from 2.5% in December 2021 There are 19,040 employed residents and 430 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.

In Warren County, the percentage also stayed the same from month-to-month at 2.6%, and was at 3% this time last year. There are 28,000 employed residents and 700 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate also stayed at 3.1% in December and was at 3.9% one year ago. The December national unemployment rate dropped to 3.5%.
