Simpson College is honoring the first annual George Washington Carver day in the State of Iowa next week, after Governor Kim Reynolds declared last June that every February 1st would celebrate the famed humanitarian.

Carver attended Simpson College after being rejected from other institutions due to the color of his skin, and remarked the Simpson College community was “the kind of people there that made me believe I was a human being.”

The celebration begins with a tour of Carver-related sites, followed by a reception, a presentation on his time in Iowa, and a self-guided tour around campus among other activities that includes a reception at West Hill Brewery.

The celebration will be next Wednesday, February 1st, with all invited. For more information, click below.
