indianola-8

The Indianola basketball teams are back home tonight after four straight road games, hosting the Tigers of Grinnell. The Indians boys dropped their first conference game of the season last Friday at Norwalk, but will try to replicate their dominant second-half performance against the Tigers earlier this year where they held Grinnell to just sixteen points and scored 36.

The Indians girls dropped a heartbreaker against the Tigers 51-50 the first time around, and were outshot at the free-throw line 12-2 with the Tigers also earning 11 offensive rebounds. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports the next several weeks will be key to finding out what the Indians need to accomplish to succeed in postseason play.

“This is going to be games where I’m going to watch closely to see and try to figure out what teams are going to do to us and try to take away some things. We have a lot to learn about ourselves, and a lot of growth to continue to make, and I’m confident our girls will be able to handle that.”

The games will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA and on the Indianola Activities YouTube channel with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off at 6:15.
