The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad got defensive in its game with Albia and landed a 47-30 win over the Lady Dees, while the boys fell 70-57 after giving up a game ending 15-0 run heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The girls were in control for most of the way, building a 16-5 lead after one quarter and not allowing Albia any closer the rest of the game. Hannah Dunkin was virtually unstoppable scoring a career high 26 points. While not having control of the game, the Knoxville boys through three quarters were holding the upper hand with a lead as high as 11 in the 3rd quarter, but an 11-0 run to close out the 3rd by Albia tied it at 45 ,and the Demons after trading baskets with the Panthers outscored Knoxville 15-0 in the final 2:30 of the game to post the win. Albia’s Drew Chance did most of the damage, scoring 17 of his game high 36 points in the 4th quarter. Panthers Coach Troy Pearson told KNIA/KRLS Sports lack of defense and other things turned the game out of his team’s favor.

Pearson: “We didn’t do a good job against Chance, and let other people get looks and we have a lot of things to work on before we play Newton.”

Landen Norris and Gabe Clarke had high points for Knoxville with 11 each. Knoxville is now 12-6 and finishes South Central Conference play 11-3 while the girls are now 12-6 and finish South Central Conference play at 9-5. The girls head to Bondurante-Farrar on Thursday while the boys will play Newton at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday.
