With warmer weather on the horizon and more people traveling due to Spring Break and for other celebrations, the Pella Police Department joins other agencies locally and across the state in reminding everyone to use caution while driving.

Captain Paul Haase says as part of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau, Pella and most state law enforcement will have extra patrols on the roads today through the 19th, wrapped around the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday and for those leaving for vacations this week.

Haase says they’ll be watching for speeding, seat belt violations, and driving while intoxicated or distracted.

He encourages anyone who plans to drink alcohol to do so responsibly and find a ride or place to stay instead of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.
