Behind 18 hits and a big five-run second inning, the Simpson College baseball team defeated Beloit 10-5 on Monday morning.

Simpson scored all five of its second inning runs with two outs recorded. Wadstrom drove home the first run with a single and Cowley followed with a two-run double. Cowley advanced to third on a base hit from Baldwin before scoring on a double steal to make the score 4-2. Held capped off the scoring with an RBI single that brought Baldwin home from second. Ian Baldwin, Will Carlock and Matthew Marquez all registered three hits at the plate, while Brady Held, Lucas Juhl and Bennett Wadstrom each chipped in two.

Dante Dolash improved to 1-0 on the season, allowing two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 5.2 innings of work. Mitchell Roeder struck out three and allowed three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings and Dylan Schlee recorded his third and fourth scoreless inning in Florida, giving up one hit while striking out three and walking two.
Simpson’s 18 hits were the most since recording 19 against Carthage on March 5, 2022. The Storm are now 3-6 on the season, and will play tomorrow against St. Scholastica.
