With an excellent tradition of success, the Pella Christian track and field teams have their sights set high for the 2023 spring season.

The Eagles, who qualified for nine events at the State Meet last season, are hoping to see even more athletes compete at the Blue Oval in Des Moines this season in addition to qualifying as a team. While there is still 12 events and two months before the State Meet, Pella Christian head coach Keith Anderson says that they’ll compete with the end goal in mind.

“I’ve always kind of preached this throughout my years of coaching, is that I don’t want to diminish the meets in March and April but we’re eyeing May. We’re eyeing what that State Qualifying Meet looks like and then getting those events up to state and seeing what they can do up there. Yes, I want our athletes to run their best in every meet, but we’ve got our eye set a little bit further down the road on both the boys and the girls side.”

The Eagles pursuit of qualifying for State begins on Thursday, March 23rd at the Bear Athletic Center in Grinnell.
