april_child_abuse_month_v1-0

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a month set aside each year to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Short Years Partnership in Indianola operates a diaper bank, and Executive Director Sheena Sullivan tells KNIA News a lack of diapers is often an underrecognized form of hardship towards local families, as not being able to afford diapers often leads to kids having to stay home from daycare or preschool, which then means the parent has to miss work and income. Sullivan said having enough diapers to have a clean one at all times protects children from abuse. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
