The Pella Christian girls tennis team dominated in an 11-0 season opening sweep against Albia Monday, while the boys tennis team dropped just one match in a 10-1 win over the Blue Demons.

The Eagle girls breezed through singles competition, dropping just four games throughout the six matches. Katy Roose was a 10-1 winner at #1 singles, while Emily Van Soelen was victorious 10-3 at #6 singles. Claire Vander Molen, Laurey Johnson, Rachel Lanferman, and Reagan DeVries were all 10-0 winners at #2 through #5 singles. In doubles action, Vander Molen and Johnson won 10-1 at #1. Lanferman and DeVries claimed the #2 doubles match 10-0. Leah Mulder and Elaina Vos had the closest call of the day, pulling out a 12-10 win at #3 doubles. Van Soelen and Ava Breems were 10-1 winners at #4 doubles, and Renae Van Wyk and Jenna Van Maanen completed the sweep with a 10-2 win at #5 doubles.

The Pella Christian boys also swept their singles matches against Albia. Shaun Bos was a 6-1, 6-7, 10-3 winner at #1 singles, and Isaac Natelborg won at #2 singles 6-3, 6-1. Toby Vander Molen claimed the #3 singles match 6-2, 6-4. Aaron Meinders (6-2, 6-1), Kirby Van Wyngarden (6-1, 2-6, 10-6), and Rob Schreur (6-0, 6-4) rounded out singles play with victories in the #4, #5, and #6 spots. In doubles play, the Eagles won 4 of the five matches, with the lone loss coming in a tiebreaking set in the #1 spot in the lineup. Natelborg and Schreur won at #2 doubles 6-1, 6-2, while Meinders and Vander Molen escaped at #3 doubles with a 7-6, 7-6 win. Adding the final two doubles wins for Pella Christian were Tristan Bos and Rhett Terpstra (6-1, 6-0) at #4 and Evan Tschetter and Zeb Kanis (6-0, 6-0) at #5.

The Pella Christian girls tennis team now stands at 1-0 on the spring and return to action Wednesday at home against Pella. The Eagle boys improved to 2-0 on the year and will try to make it 3-0 on Eagle Lane this afternoon in a 4:15 p.m. match against Pella.
