Four Indianola spring sports teams are in action today, with both boys and girls tennis and boys and girls track competing.

The tennis squads have a difficult start to the Little Hawkeye Conference this afternoon, facing Pella. Both teams have to overcome the Little Hawkeye Conference champions from last year in Pella, however they will both have the advantage of home court. The boys host the Dutch at 1pm, the girls face off at 4:15 at Indianola High School.

The Indians girls track team heads to Ankeny for the Hawkette Invitational, which includes some of the top teams in the Des Moines metro area including the host Hawks, Ankeny Centennial, Dowling Catholic, Johnston, Southeast Polk, Valley, and Warren County rival Norwalk. Competition starts at 4:30pm.

The Indians boys track and field team hosts the Indianola Invitational at the Indianola Stadium. Senior Logan Piper said this will be one of the last times he and his teammates will all be competing as a team, so he wants to make sure it is memorable.

“I’m just trying to enjoy the moment. I’m definitely looking forward to competing, but I’m also looking forward to seeing all the progress not only made by myself but my teammates as well.”

Track and Field events begin at 4:30pm.
