The Indianola girls golf team finished in fifth place at their regional golf meet qualifier on Wednesday in West Des Moines, shooting a team score of 398. The Indians were led by Camryn Overton shooting a 92, Amelia Moorlach shot a 100, and Reese Lucas and Abbie Corbett carded a 103. An 87 was required to qualify for the state meet.
The Indianola baseball team started their season off with a win on the road at Ottumwa 5-2. The Indians starter Luke Rockhold no-hit the Bulldogs through the first four innings in a dominant start, and the Indians loaded the bases in the first inning but only scored a run on a fielder’s choice, before breaking the game open in the fourth when the loaded the bases again, but got a pair of two-RBI hits from Bennett Brueck and Jack Strong to lead 5-0. The Bulldogs broke the no-hit bid and scored a pair of runs to try and get back in it, but the rally died and the Indians claimed victory. They improve to 1-0 on the season, and play on the road at powerhouse Johnston tonight.
