It was opening night along Panther Drive and the boys and girls of Summer in black and gold did not disappoint as the Panthers took all three games from Oskaloosa on Tuesday. The Softball Panthers scored a 5-2 win over the Indians as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Panthers made it 3-0 when Ciara Heffron singled home Ashlyn Finarty. Knoxville would put the final two tallies on the board. While Oskaloosa scored in the 5th and 6th innings and had runners in scoring position in the 7th, Heffron shut the door in the circle. Finarty got the win starting the game and going 4 1/3 innings striking out four. Heffron also struck out four in her 2 2/3 innings of work. Meanwhile on the other side of Panther Drive, the baseball squad treated the fans to two walk off wins in a varsity double header. Hayden Hatch got the winning RBI in game one to give the Panthers a 6-5 victory. Koby Higginbotham got the win and also had the game tying two run double. Lincoln Norris went 2/4. In game two, the Panthers fell behind again on numerous errors but walked off when Dakota Ramsey hit into a fielder’s choice. Norris got the win going two innings, he also had two hits in the game. Knoxville baseball is now 4-0 while Knoxville Softball is 1-0. Both will travel to Davis County tonight.
