Late Friday night, the Mercer County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office announced a suspect from southeast Iowa has been arrested in connection with a morning armed robbery at a bank in northern Missouri.

The 911 call came in from First Interstate Bank in Princeton at approximately 9:29 a.m. Friday reporting that an armed single male suspect had robbed the bank. Bank employees said a man wearing a disguise came into the facility, displayed a gun and demanded money from the teller.

Several agencies assisted with the investigation into the suspect’s identity and his location. Sheriff Jose Lopez identifies the suspect as Phillip Michael Blink, 67, of Promise City, Iowa. Later on Friday, Blink’s truck was spotted in Knoxville, Iowa, and pulled over by the Knoxville Police Department. The suspect was then detained.

Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller tells KNIA/KRLS News, “I would praise officer Kyle Eastwood. He has a knack for looking into things that may or may not come our way. I don’t know if it’s just his luck but there’s been several occasions throughout his career where he has done some research on what any other law enforcement officer would probably think is just a one off and it’s never going to head this way and whatever, and he has caught up to that person. So it is pretty interesting when you look at some of the things he has been involved in.”

Blink is now charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and stealing or attempting to steal from a financial institution. The suspect is being held without bond in the Marion County jail in Knoxville, Iowa, awaiting transfer back to Mercer County, Mo.

Other agencies who helped the Knoxville Police Department on the case include the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, Mercer County Missouri Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
