The class 3A #3 Knoxville Baseball Squad had to fight for the win, but the Panthers got out of Prairie City with a 5-2 win over PCM on Thursday night. The Mustangs struck first in the bottom of the 3rd after Kaleb DeVries was walked, Gavin Fenton ripped a double to score DeVries, then Nick Farver hit a double to score Fenton to make it 2-0 Mustangs. But that was all PCM would get and the score remained the same until the 5th when Trey Wight singled to drive in Hayden Hatch. In the 6th, the Panthers took the lead for good when Beau Leisure doubled to score Trenton Kingery, and Dakota Ramsey had the go-ahead RBI, scoring Luke Rozenboom. Knoxville would get two more insurance runs in the 7th to get the final margin of victory. Wight went 2/3 on the night for the Panthers while Fenton went 2/4 for the Mustangs. Jacob Wendt took the loss, going the distance allowing five runs on five hits and striking out five. Trenton Kingery picked up the win in relief going 2 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six. Knoxville is now 16-1 on the season and will travel to Clarke tonight while PCM is 6-7 and will travel to Nevada tonight.
