
The #1 Indianola softball team split with #3 Dallas Center-Grimes in a home doubleheader Friday falling 6-1 and winning 4-3, while the baseball team also had a doubleheader split with the Mustangs winning 2-1 and falling 3-0.
The Indians softball team couldn’t keep up with the Mustangs in game one, giving up three runs in the first and two more in the second, and never getting back in the game.
Game two was a pitchers duel, with Indianola scoring two runs in the first inning, but seeing DCG scoring three unanswered, before the Indians answered in the bottom of the fourth to tie it at three. A run in the sixth out the Indians out in front as they held on for the split. They are now 13-3 on the season, and play in a tournament at Cedar Rapids Xavier today.
The Indians baseball team was in a first place battle with the Mustangs, falling behind 1-0 in game one, then scoring two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead, and the Indians pitching staff held on for the win.
Game two saw the Indians bats go quiet, as DCG went ahead early 2-0, then added an insurance run to lead 3-0, and the Indians offense couldn’t put together a run-scoring inning.
They are now 13-7, and match up with Oskaloosa on Monday.
