A late game rally helped the Pleasantville softball team push their winning streak to three games with a 3-1 win at PCM Friday night.
The Mustangs got the scoring started in the first inning as Riley Johannes doubled and scored a batter later when Paige Steenhoek hit a double of her own. PCM’s 1-0 lead held late into the ballgame, until the Trojans tied the contest with a run in the fifth inning. After holding the Mustangs scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, Pleasantville took the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth and held on for the final two innings to grab the win. Carly Cox used just 60 pitches to grab the complete game win for the Trojans, allowing just one run on five hits. Ella Clark, Cox, and Jayden Tibben batted in all three of Pleasantville runs, while Madilyn Rowson went 2-for-3 on the night. Rylee Parsons took the complete game loss for PCM, giving up just one earned run on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight. Steenhoek went 3-3 at the plate for the Mustangs, and Johannes added the team’s other two hits in a 2-for-3 effort.
Pleasantville improved to 7-14 on the season with the win and they’ll return to West Central Conference play on Monday with a home doubleheader against Earlham at 6 p.m. PCM fell to 8-7 this summer and the host Perry Monday night for a single Heart of Iowa Conference game at 7:30 p.m.
