A heat advisory has been issued across south central Iowa. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures approaching 100 degrees will be likely in the afternoon hours today through Friday. Overnight scattered storms remain a possibility, but would provide little relief with lows in the 70s. Heat index values will likely top 100 as well. Those with outdoor plans are reminded to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in air conditioning.
