For the second straight year, Norwalk has opened the volleyball season with a resounding non-conference sweep of Bondurant-Farrar. The Class 4A 5th-ranked Warriors went on the road Tuesday night and handled the No. 10 Bluejays by set scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-7.

Kill leaders for Norwalk were senior Noelle Sutcliffe with 11, senior Ava McKay with seven and senior Ava Johnson with seven on just nine attacks. Liz Iverson set 24 assists and Emmory Toppenberg had four blocks defensively.

Coach John Fulton stated that the Warriors looked very good for a season opener, strengthened by excellent passing in serve receive. He credited Iverson with doing a great job distributing the ball and noted that the team’s middles – Toppenberg and Johnson – did a fantastic job controlling the net throughout the game.

Norwalk returns to action Thursday for the Southeast Polk Quad at 5:00 p.m, taking on the host Rams, Des Moines Lincoln and 4A 2nd-ranked Indianola.
