The Simpson College Gallery of Art and Design schedule is out for the 2023-24 school year, which includes six different exhibits. The schedule includes:

Through September 29th: Ben Millett – Finding Pride: An Exhibition of Quilts

Ben Millett works out of his studio at Mainframe Studios in Des Moines, Iowa. He uses rich colors and intricate compositions to create quilts that are visually compelling while furthering the gay agenda.

October 2nd through October 27th: North River Arts Council Group Exhibition

North River Arts Council is comprised of artists from Carlisle, Norwalk and Indianola, Iowa. The group meets to share ideas and to help fortify artistic culture in Warren County. The group exhibit at SCGAD features a variety of artists whose work includes painting, photography, ceramics, origami, and more.

November 1st through December 15th: Adam Hoffman – Graphic Design Exhibition

Adam Hoffman is the Associate Creative Director at Lessing-Flynn Advertising in Des Moines, Iowa. The exhibition will provide an overview of highly accomplished graphic design work produced by Hoffman throughout his career.

January 8 through February 16: Ethan Edvenson – Clustered Anomalies

Ethan Edvenson is a Des Moines artist who creates mixed media drawings. Edvenson uses a variety of media, textures, and design approaches to create layers of content. The exhibit at SCAD will feature some of Edvenson’s most recent work.

February 19th through March 29th – Women’s History Month

This group exhibition, curated by artist, Mary Jones, of Indianola, Iowa, will feature four women artists from the Des Moines area in honor of Women’s History Month. Each artist works with a variety of media in inventive ways to express their experiences as working artists in the contemporary world.

April 5th through July 31st – Warren County Piecemakers Quilt Guild Quilt Exhibition

Quilts are created by the Warren County Piecemakers. The group is comprised of regular quilters from throughout the county. The exhibit offers an overview of quilts produced by members of the group.
