The Pella Christian football team wraps up their difficult non-district schedule tonight with a road trip to Class 1A #2 ranked Grundy Center.
The Eagles are off to a 2-0 start to the season after a commanding 49-35 week one win over Des Moines Christian and a 29-28 double overtime victory over PCM last week. The Spartans have followed up winning the Class A State Championship last year, by going 2-0 to start this season. Grundy Center opened the fall with a 7-6 win over Dike-New Hartford, before beating Aplington-Parkersburg 31-7 last Friday. Facing a talented Spartans squad, Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski says his team will need to be sharp defensively.
“They have a nice offense, their quarterback is a really talented player. They’ve got some nice receivers. So, we really need to contain their quarterback, he’s a good thrower and a good runner. We got to keep leverage on their receivers, so we’re definitely gonna have our hands full.”
Pella Christian football at Grundy Center tonight can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m.
