team-2

A showdown for 1st place, and likely the South Central Conference Volleyball championship is in Eddyville tonight. Class 4A #14 Knoxville takes on class 2A #11 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Both teams are the lone remaining unbeatens in the South Central Conference at 2-0, while it is early both have separated themselves as the teams to beat. Knoxville’s Brittany Bacorn is having a great senior season with 70 kills on the season and with 16 tonight she would become the first Panther in program history to reach the 1,000 career kills mark. Bacorn tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the pressure is not totally on her this year as there are a lot of options the Panthers can go to.

Bacorn :”She tells us that we’re the best team she’s coached so we really have a lot of options on the team which makes it a lot of fun.”

Anna Buttell and Peyton Horn have also assisted up front with 14 and ten blocks respectively, plus Bacorn and freshman Abbie Keitges lead in serving with 17 aces each. The Panthers are second in the conference serve efficiency and are 2nd only to the Rockets in kill efficiency. Eddyville-Blakesburg is led by the Shafer Twins who are in the top five in the conference kills and digs. First serve is set to get underway at 7:15 in Eddyville.
