courthouse-2021-election

The City/School Elections in Marion County are coming up on November 7th and all absentee ballots, whether in-person or by mail, must be received by the Marion County auditor’s office by 8 pm that night.

To register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Iowa and be at least 17 years old but must turn 18 by election day to participate in the voting. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia encourages all residents who meet those requirements to participate in the voting process.

“It’s a precious thing that we have, that we have the ability to do that. We take it very serious here. And we don’t get opportunities to vote very often, so it is that chance to voice your opinion. We do have better participation in the city/school elections now that it’s in one day, everything’s the same. So, there is more turnout and we highly encourage that.”
