A returning program for the Pella Police Department aims to brighten the holidays for dozens of children.

Holiday Heroes returns in December, and Pella Police Captain Paul Haase says volunteers from Pella Fire and Pella Ambulance will partner with local officers to support kids from Pella and Pella Christian schools by buying presents for their families and themselves. Walmart started with funding a major portion of the funds needed for this event with a $2,500 donation to the Pella Police Department Officers Association.

Haase thanks the other sponsors and volunteers that make the tradition possible, including Welgaard CPA, Central Tire and Auto, Walmart, and many others.
