The Knoxville Athletics Hall of Fame induction luncheon will be taking place on Friday at Noon.
There will be a meal and personal remarks honoring the 1981 volleyball team, all-state football player Bob “Tubby” Vander Linden, Panthers football standout Bill Awtry, and all-state baseball player Scott Hoch. The inductees will also be honored between the girls and boys basketball games the evening of the 26th as well. Knoxville Hall of Fame Committee member Joe Cunningham said this event is a great homecoming for the community.
“We’re anxious to honor them, and get the community together. It’s a great day for Knoxville when we do this. It’s kind of a homecoming in the winter a little bit so we’re excited.”
Cunningham says that tickets are no longer available for the luncheon. However, anyone without a ticket can still support the inductees Friday night. Hear more from Cunningham about the Knoxville Hall of Fame on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
