A senior class that aimed to grow the sport and the success of their program accomplished a big part of that mission Saturday as seven Pella wrestlers earned their way to the state tournament.

The Dutch tied for 2nd overall at their district meet and earned top three finishes from Damion Clark – 132, Rex Rhamy – 138, TR Putz – 150, Logan Bruxvoort – 165, Jackson Van Kley – 190, Kieran Van Voorst – 215, and Noah Parsons – 285. For Van Kley, this is his third consecutive trip after placing 8th last year, and Bruxvoort and Clark are back-to-back qualifiers.

Pella had all 13 of their wrestlers advance from the morning to evening session, and in addition to the seven qualifiers, Dax Putz (126) and Hunter Smith (157) competed in the consolation finals, earning 4th. This is the most qualifiers the Dutch have ever sent to the traditional state tournament.
