The Pella Christian boys soccer squad kicks off their season in twelve days and will do so with a new leader at the helm of the program.

Mike Vander Molen, who has served as an assistant coach for the Eagles for the past few seasons, was hired as the new head coach last June. In his inaugural season, Vander Molen will look to improve upon the finish of last year, which saw Pella Christian fall in the Substate Championship. While improving upon that success this season would be ideal, Vander Molen says his biggest goal this season is to see improvement throughout the year.

“We don’t set an arbitrary goal about getting to the Substate Finals or getting to State, we just want to progress every week. And so, that’s what I challenge our guys with. When we’re training and when you’re in competition, are you doing the things that make us better and better as a team? And if we do those things, everything else falls into place.”

The Pella Christian boys soccer team opens their season on Eagle Lane against PCM on Thursday, March 28th.
