Largely limited by spring break when it came to their anticipated varsity roster, the Pella girls track and field team wrapped up the indoor season at Central College Saturday. No team scores were kept, but several 4A schools and other potential state qualifying athletes were in the group competing in the Kuyper Fieldhouse.
Among the top eight finishes for the Pella girls:
200 meters – Jacie Trine, 2nd (27.03)
400 meters – Mara Schiebout, 8th (1:04.33)
800 meters – Macy Schroeder, 4th (2:33.87); Ruth Dunham, 5th (2:38.58)
Long jump – Avery Parks, 6th (15-02.75)
Shot put – Maggie Thompson, 8th (32-05.5)
4×200 Relay – 3rd, 1:54.04 (entry names not available)
4×800 Relay – 4th, 10:43.18 (Schroeder, Paulsen, Wittenberg, Dunham)
Season previews for both the Dutch boys and girls teams are coming up this week on KNIA/KRLS. The defending 3A champion boys open at Waukee on March 25th, and the girls are off until the DCG meet on March 30th.
