A forecast that largely keeps the air temperature below 50 degrees should keep Pella’s tulips closer to refrigerator status in at least the short term. But while the true “peak bloom” remains still somewhat hard to predict, regardless, visitors are encouraged to make at least two trips to the community during the spring season.
Billie Rhamy with the Tulip Time Steering Committee says anyone with plans to see the most flowers at their best should plan a trip sometime in mid-April, and while doing so, check out Pella Historical Museums and other local attractions while lines are shorter, travel is easier, and parking is closer to those locations and City of Pella parks. From there, Rhamy says then to plan on coming during one of the three days of Tulip Time May 2nd through the 4th — especially Thursday and Friday, to enjoy parades and the Dutch heritage celebration.
