In a battle of state-ranked girls soccer teams, Class 2A No. 5 Norwalk lost a hard-fought 3-2 decision at Class 3A No. 7 Southeast Polk on Thursday night.
The undefeated Rams scored first during the opening three minutes of the game and took leads of 2-0 and 3-1 during the second half. Norwalk twice pulled within one goal during the latter stages of the match but was unable to force a tie before time expired. Reese Trebilcock scored both Warrior goals and Braelyn Clark had one assist. Sienna Larsen led Southeast Polk with two scores and five shots on goal.
Norwalk, now 3-3 overall, will have a week off before playing at Ames on Thursday, April 18.
Tennis Teams, Girls Track do not compete
Three other Norwalk teams did not compete on Thursday due to the weather. The girls tennis home dual vs. Ballard was postponed due to rain and no make-up date was announced. The boys tennis dual at Ballard was also rained out and rescheduled for April 30 in Norwalk. The girls track team traveled to the Waukee Northwest Relays but was one of several schools that didn’t participate due to poor weather conditions.
