Habitat for Humanity of Marion County is working to complete three housing projects throughout the county this summer.

The organization is building three homes in Knoxville, Pleasantville and Bussey, and Executive Director Amy Meyer says the goal is for those projects to be finished in June. Meyer says that Habitat for Humanity is excited to be able to provide more affordable housing locally, and adds that partnerships with area high schools has helped with taking on more projects.

“It’s just been some amazing partnerships. So for example, Knoxville High School works on the Knoxville home, their construction trades program that is. So, there’s students working on that house. Twin Cedars, we have a new partnership with them, they have students working on the Busey home. And the coolest part is, that Bussey home is actually going to be purchased by a Twin Cedars teacher, so there’s actually students building a house for their teacher. So, that’s going to be a really cool home celebration that we’ll probably do in June.”

Meyer added that upon completion of these three projects, they hope to begin working on three new houses in July.
