The Pella Police Department encourages everyone planning to attend Tulip Time festivities next week to be prepared in case of inclement weather or other emergencies. Captain Paul Haase says they worked with Marion County Emergency Management to develop a temporary, week-long alert service available to anyone with a cell phone. Those who text “Pellatulip” to 67283 will receive updates about severe weather, missing persons, and other potential public safety emergencies through Sunday, May 5th. From there, Haase encourages the public to tune in to 92.1 KRLS if a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning is issued. Haase says their communications call center at the corner of Main and Liberty Street remains a resource to any individuals needing assistance during the 89th Tulip Time.
