In a battle between Marion County rivals on Panther Drive, the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad came out on the right end of a 2-1 boys soccer battle over Pella Christian on Friday. The Eagles actually got on the board first 7:00 into the match when Camden Parker scored to make it 1-0 but that was all the Eagles would get as the Panthers got there equalizer just before halftime when Joseph Finnegan scored, then Ezra Schmidt scored on a penalty kick just 5:00 into the 2nd half, and the Panthers made the one goal lead stand. Carson Cecil came away with six saves on the night. Coach Dylan Mick told KNIA/KRLS Sports Cecil has been his solid self this season, but his defense has stepped up in key situations.

Mick: “The defense that job and limiting Albia to just two penalty shots and that’s a credit to making his job easier.”

Pella Christian Goalkeeper Keegan Fopma had seven saves. Knoxville is now 6-5 on the season and will host Chariton on Monday while Pella Christian is now 4-6 and will take on cross town rival Pella on Tuesday.
