A system spawning several tornadoes just west of the KNIA/KRLS Listening Area did also prompt warnings locally Friday evening. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air with live coverage from approximately 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. for six tornado warnings impacting portions of Marion and Warren Counties. According to the National Weather Service, damage was reported with those storms in nearby counties, including confirmed tornado touchdowns near Monroe, Cumming, Pleasant Hill, and Altoona. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team had six staff members supporting on-air coverage with updates from Weatherology Meteorologists.

Additional chances for severe weather remain in the forecast starting late this afternoon into the overnight. The primary threats will be potentially significant hail and heavy rainfall. Localized flooding remains a possibility, especially in areas that were impacted by multiple rounds of storms Friday night. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air with live coverage of any tornado or severe thunderstorm warning in Marion and Warren Counties.
