Carter Berkey and Max Cleveland of the Simpson College track and field team each had terrific performances on the final day of the Kip Janvrin Open.

The team celebrated Senior Day, with 12 athletes from the men’s squad being honored for their contributions to the Storm track and field and cross country programs.

Berkey won the long jump event with a mark of 6.99 meters, a new season-best. The mark puts him in the top 30 in Division III this season.

Cleveland finished second in the 110 meter hurdles, setting a new personal best of 14.32 seconds. Cleveland moves into second all-time in school history, just .02 seconds off Dylan Kalinay’s school record. He also is now ranked 11th in the event across DIII this season.

Brendan Godbout took the bronze in the 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 55.28. Multiple others set personal or season bests to lead the Storm, with Joseph Sams recording a career best 22.08 in the 200 meters and James Murray clocking a season-best time of 1:56.05 in the 800 meters.
