The Knoxville City Council met in regular session on Monday.

At the meeting the council approved a purchase agreement, sale of property, a development agreement, and tax credit applications for Huegerich Holdings Series 2 LLC for apartments and townhomes to be constructed in the Veterans District. The council then approved amending zoning code relating to a potential new Kading Properties development, a resolution finalizing the work for the VA Park Trail Connection Project, a facade improvement grant for 107 E Main, and amended a provision regarding waste haulers.

The council also approved a development agreement with Origin Homes to purchase five more lots in the Veterans District. This was met with criticism from council member Megan Day as she was concerned with giving Origin Homes prime real estate in the Veterans District to build five identical homes like the ones recently built. After a lengthy discussion the development agreement was approved and will be amended so that Origin would need to add variety to the five new homes they will build.
