A strong second inning for the Norwalk baseball team powered the Warriors past Pella Christian for the 3-0 win Monday night, a game heard live on the KNIA3 stream.

Despite having 15 base runners in the contest, the Eagles were not able to push a run across as Norwalk’s defense hung tough with their backs against the wall all game long. Despite giving up three runs in the second inning, Eagles starting pitcher Brecken Ritzert settled in not giving up a hit until he was replaced with one out in the seventh inning. Pella Christian first baseman Luke Fynaardt had the strongest offensive night between the two teams recording three base hits. Norwalk starting pitcher Aiden Harder struggled with some command, but recorded outs when needed to help secure the win.

After Monday’s contest, the Warriors improve to 7-9 overall and the Eagles fall to 8-11. Norwalk will take on Ankeny Centennial tonight on the road while Pella Christian travels to Grinnell on Wednesday.
