Marion County is partnering with the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance to update the county’s Comprehensive Plan through 2040.
The Comprehensive Plan is designed to guide the future actions of a community based on their individual development needs, while also considering long-term issues that impact the region. The needs outlined in the plan include land use, transportation, housing, economic development, parks and recreation, and quality of life. Senior Planner with the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance Caleb Knutson says that they are seeking input from residents throughout the county in order to better understand what needs to be included in the Comprehensive Plan.
“The staff is going to see this. The supervisors are going to see this. It’s going to be put into the comprehensive plan. So this isn’t just lip service as yeah, yeah, we want to hear from you, but no, we really want to hear from you, because this is incredibly important because you’re the ones who are living, and staying, and working in Marion County. Your tax dollars are being spent here and used here, so let’s make sure that you actually have input and say.”
