New Knoxville Police Officer Matthew Eagleton was recently sworn in and the Knoxville Police Department is now fully staffed.

Eagleton was sworn in at the last Knoxville City Council meeting and is now the 15th Knoxville Police officer on staff. According to Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller, this is the most officers that the department has ever had and they are now fully staffed. Fuller says that the hiring of Eagleton allows someone in the department to now be promoted to the new crisis intervention officer, which is a partnership with Heart of Iowa Community Services Region.

“We like to think that if we get you here we can keep you here. One thing we are very proud of is for being a smaller department, we have a lot of specialty positions. We have a detective, narcotics detective, school resource officer, now we’re going to have the crisis intervention officer, and the opportunity to be a K9 officer.”

Hear about updates in the department from Fuller on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
