Claiming the number seven spot for Pleasantville top sports stories of the 2023-2024 school year is junior basketball player Joelle Johnson breaking the school record for points in a game. 

In the Trojans second game of the year against Melcher-Dallas at home, Johnson exploded for 39 points in the 59-49 win to break the school record. Johnson went on to average over 20 points a game during her junior campaign along with 7.6 rebounds, three assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Johnson finished the season on top of the conference in points per game despite her season being cut short due to injury. Johnson received first team all-conference honors and was an all-district selection.

The Pleasantville girls basketball team finished the season with a 6-16 overall record under first year head coach Allyson Simpson.
