The Marion County Humane Society is at capacity and more full then they have ever been, so the shelter is asking the community to consider adoption.
According to a social media post by the humane society, they said “We have never been this full before. Close, but not quite. Our anxiety about what we are going to do going forward is extremely high. If you have been considering adopting, please come see us. We have some amazing dogs that would make wonderful companions available. By adoption, you allow us more room to save another dog.”
As several shelters throughout the state have closed over the past couple years, the Marion County Humane Society wants to continue to remain operational. The humane society also needs additional funds to be able to afford all of the animals they are currently housing. Marion County Humane Society President Leslie VanderLinden encourages the community to consider adoption or donating anyway they can. VanderLinden says that the shelter is a great place to get a new pet.
“You don’t have to go to a breeder and pay thousands of dollars when you can adopt from here between $175-$200 depending on the dog’s age. We don’t change the adoption prices for age.”
Those interested in adopting or donating you can call the humane society or visit their website here.
