Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson is looking for volunteers to serve on a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Robinson helped form a CERT team in Mahaska County, where he worked before coming to Jasper County.
“We will find a position for you. I have had CERT members who live in a wheelchair. I have had members who use canes. There is a job for everybody when it comes to supporting emergency services.”
Robinson says CERT members can help with search and rescues, clear debris from natural disasters, and assist at an Emergency Operation Center. An informational meeting open to the public will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 11th in the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center at 1030 West 2nd Street South in Newton. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson talks more about the formation of a CERT team on Today’s Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Let’s Talk Newton.
