A new program begins in Jasper County today, aimed at improving the relationship between the County’s Secondary Roads department and Jasper County citizens. The program is called “Ask the Engineer.”

Jasper County Supervisor Doug Cupples says it was County Engineer Mike Frietsch’s idea. Frietsch will be available at certain times on certain days over the next several months, to personally hear residents’ concerns or comments.

“It’s pretty impressive that he is willing to do that. I never have a meeting where we are not talking about gravel roads and our roads. It’s just such an important thing.”

Each day of the “Ask the Engineer” program, Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch will be available at the Engineers Office to meet with residents and answer their questions at 7 a.m., Noon, and 3 p.m.. The “Ask the Engineer” sessions began today. More are scheduled for February 13th, April 10th, and June 12th, 2025.

The Jasper County Engineer’s Office is located at 910 North 11th Avenue East in Newton. County Supervisor Doug Cupples talks more about the “Ask the Engineer” program on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
