The Knoxville City Council will start hearing annual budget presentations at their next meeting on January 20th.
These are presentations given each year that break down the annual fiscal year budget for each department. These presentations provide the council and public with information regarding spending for each city department and if there are any changes coming or big projects on the horizon that will be funded. City Manager Heather Ussery says they hold these presentations over several different meetings.
“As we get into that season there are a lot of conversations about the budget for cities. The budget overall needs to be submitted and approved to the Iowa Department of Management by April 30th so we kind of go back from that date and start doing presentations to city council for each department.”
The first budget presentation will be for the public works department.
