It was a busy weekend of sports for Knoxville as the boys and girls wrestling squads were in separate invitationals. The girls placed 7th at Pella with Serenity Turner winning her weight class as she won all of her matches by fall in a total time of 2:55. Other place winners were, Laila Pedicini placing 3rd, Andie Branson was 4th, Isabelle Sinnard finished 6th, Destiny Keith placed 5th and Mariah Ripperger also placed 5th. Coach Doug Hatch tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they are still drilling the little things with many of the 1st year wrestlers, but allowing the more experienced girls to start preparing for the upcoming state qualifying meets.
Hatch: We drill certain things to see if they’re picking up. With our experienced girls like Serenity and Andie, are they putting their opponents away, and are they finishing well each match.”
