Work on the interior of the new clubhouse at the City of Newton’s Westwood Golf course is proceeding on schedule. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says concrete work was completed early last week, and the framing and electrical installation inside the building have made big strides over the last couple days. The project is expected to be completed before the golf season begins.

The interior phase of the project was delayed a few weeks due to almost three inches of rain that fell in Newton during November. The Newton City Council awarded Ball Team Incorporated of Urbandale the contract for the interior work back on October 21st of last year. Ball Team’s base bid was $692,000, and last month the City Council added $160,696 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money to the clubhouse project.
