The Twin Cedars Boys Basketball Squad fell to Mormon Trail on Thursday 72-55. The Sabers led by two after one quarter and trailed 30-27 at halftime, but the Saints outscored the Sabers in the second half 44-28. Holden Roberts led the Saber charge with 15 points. Tonight, the Sabers take on arch-rival Melcher-Dallas. The boys will only play due to the girls squad ending the season early because of low numbers. First year Coach Kale Rodrigues tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is learning more and more about the rivalry, but no matter how much historical knowledge he has, it is a must win for his team.
Rodrigues: “I just know it’s one of those games you can’t lose, if we do lose it is what it is. The boys are always saying we have to beat Melcher. Must win it all I can tell you.”
The Sabers found out their seed in the Bluegrass ConferenceTournament on Thursday and it will be an immediate rematch as the Sabers are the 8th seed and Melcher-Dallas is the 9th seed and will face each other nearly 24 hours after tonight’s game at Seymour. Tonight’s tip off is set for 7:30…tomorrow’s game is set for 6:00.
