The Knoxville School Board approved a security camera and server upgrade at their meeting last Monday.
This is to upgrade the oldest security cameras located in the high school to a newer version. Some of the existing cameras are not as clear as the newer cameras. The district identified the current cameras to be replaced, as well as adding some additional cameras in the hallways to increase coverage among the longer hallway runs. Additionally, the district is adding two new cameras at West Elementary and one at Northstar to give better coverage on the parking lots. School Business Manager Craig Mobley said the current cameras have lived their life and for security reasons, they want to see better angles.
“We’re going to be doing some upgrades of our security cameras at our high school. Our high school really had some four oldest security cameras that needed to be replaced. We also looked at some of the placement of security cameras to get the best views so that anybody whether it be an administrator, police department or anybody like that needed to see something we had the views and the angles and everything like that that can give them the best view of whatever incident happened.”
The Knoxville School Board also approved an upgrade to the camera servers.
